The only thing constant about social media is change. And things have changed since I first created my Tune-Up checklist earlier in 2016.

plumbing-585658A “social media tune-up” is a great activity to complete quarterly. It’s important that we keep our social media presence current, because we want to make sure that our online presence is a true reflection of our “real life” selves – otherwise, our clients and prospects will lose trust in us.

In this blog, I’m sharing my updated checklists that I work through quarterly, to make sure my own social media presence is fresh and current. When was the last time you did a tune-up of your social media profiles? September is a great time to do it as we start preparing for the new year ahead!

Website/Blog

For many of us, our website or blog acts as the “main hub” for our online marketing efforts. Many of our Calls-to-Action in our social media posts will direct our audiences to our websites for one reason or another, so we need to make sure they stay current. Not to mention, search engines such as Google love when we update our websites regularly – a fresh website will appear higher in search results.

Home Page/Landing Pages

Is your branding, logo, messaging, etc. still current? If not, you’ll want to make sure you update anything that is no longer relevant!

Your contact information should be easily visible from every single page a visitor goes to on your site – in a header or at the top of a sidebar, for example. Same goes for your lead magnet (AKA free gift or opt-in), and links to your social media accounts.

Going through all your social media profiles and your website is a daunting task. It can’t be done in a day – nor should it be. Break it down into simple chunks and delegate what you can to your virtual assistant.

You may even find that to go through this entire process for your social media presence takes you close to 3 months. That’s totally okay, and normal! My personal strategy is to
rotate through one social media profile per month – I’m less overwhelmed that way.
